Peptide Calculator
A precise reconstitution calculator for laboratory researchers working with lyophilized peptides. Enter the vial mass, the volume of Recon Solution you plan to add, and your target research aliquot — the tool returns concentration in mg/mL, the exact mark on a U-100 graduated syringe, total aliquots per vial, and cost-per-aliquot if you supply a vial price. The calculator embedded below is published openly by BHG and reproduced here for laboratory reference.
Research-Use-Only Notice: This calculator is a measurement reference for in vitro and laboratory research workflows only. How to Use the Reconstitution Calculator
The calculator follows the same arithmetic published in standard laboratory protocols and adapted for benchwork with lyophilized peptides. Entering three values produces every figure a researcher needs to plan an aliquot run for a vial.
Step 1
Vial mass (mg)
This is the mass of lyophilized peptide stated on the certificate of analysis (COA) for the lot you are working with. For most vials in the Optimum Formula catalog this value is between 2 mg and 20 mg. The figure should reflect net peptide mass, not gross fill weight including counter-ions or excipients.
Step 2
Reconstitution volume (mL)
This is the volume of Recon Solution (or sterile water for laboratory workflows that prefer it) you plan to introduce into the vial. Common laboratory volumes are 1 mL, 2 mL, 3 mL, and 5 mL. Larger volumes give a lower concentration per unit on the graduated syringe and produce more total aliquots from a single vial.
Step 3
Target aliquot (mcg)
This is the research aliquot specified by your protocol — the mass of peptide a single withdrawal should contain, expressed in micrograms. The calculator translates this number into the corresponding mark on a U-100 insulin syringe (the standard graduated tool used in research peptide handling) so that withdrawals can be performed reproducibly.
Step 4
Optional: vial price
If you enter the price you paid per vial, the calculator returns a cost-per-aliquot figure. This is useful for grant budgeting, multi-arm study cost projection, and publishing cost-of-experiment notes alongside research data.
